At the Bushel Basket Market Wednesday special canning demonstration

If you’d like to learn canning techniques, be sure to stop by the Bushel Basket Farmers’ Market this Wednesday, Aug. 29 because there will be a special canning demonstration.

The Bushel Basket market is open Wednesdays from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at the Chelsea Community Fairgrounds.

Here’s what the vendors expect to have this week.

Kapp Farms: string beans, cucumbers, summer squash, kale, tomatoes, pattipans, basil, sweet and hot peppers. There might be baked goods this week.

Waterloo Country Crafts and Tack: quilts, throws, Raggedy Ann dolls, and monkey dolls.

Barbara’s Stitches: quilts, monkey dolls, little girl dresses, pillows, bibs from children and adults, aprons, and potholders.

Lutchka Angus and Farm Market: sweet onions, garlic, eggplant, salad and pickling cukes and slicers, zucchini and summer squash, green bell peppers, sweet banana peppers, red and Yukon Gold potatoes, sweet corn, zinnias, red, yellow and black cherry salad tomatoes, kale, basil, okra, sunflowers, and a variety of hot peppers.

Oak Hill Farm: honey, bee pollen, lotion bars, candles, gift bags with assorted honey products.

Mark’s Farms and Greenhouse: tomatoes, sweet corn, cabbage, cantaloupe, slicing and salad cukes, zucchini, summer squash, sweet onions, Swiss chard, kale, kohlrabi, sweet onions, okra, potatoes, sweet and hot peppers, canning tomatoes, and basil.

Good Time Kettle Corn: small, medium and large bags of kettle corn cooked fresh at the market.

Golden Fleece Farm, LLC: grass fed beef and patties, organically grown and naturally raised whole chickens.

Greystone Creamery: feta, ricotta and Machel cheese, cow gouda, Chelsea-cam, garlic pepper and plain cream cheese.

Pregitzer Farm Market, LLC: assorted herbs and perennials, peppers, summer squash, cukes, pickling cukes, salad leaf basil, corn, summer squash, cukes, frozen chicken by order, a CSA (community supported agriculture) farm, ask for details.

Janet’s LLC: fudge, grilling rubs, jam, flavored nuts, both U-M and MSU “dammit dolls,” and greeting cards.

Stone Hearth Breads and Bakery: pumpernickel, German rye and German rye seeded, Italian Milano, honey whole wheat, San Francisco sourdough, assorted cookies and buns, pepperoni rolls, spinach feta cheese bread, multigrain bread, country loaf, cheese bread, rosemary herb and tomato basil bread, four-cheese bread sticks, jalapeno cheese bread and assorted sweet bread, including cinnamon, cinnamon raisin, strawberry white chocolate, peach pecan, and wild blueberry cream cheese.

T. J Farms: nursery stock plants, trees and bushes.
