Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Rick Taylor Real Estate – Reinhart Realtors, continues its free summer concert series Thursday, Aug. 1 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.

The summer long concert series is a program of Chelsea Area Festivals & Events (CAFE), a not-for-profit organization that enriches Chelsea, and the surrounding communities, by promoting the presentation of and participation in quality performing and visual arts throughout the year.

Each season, Sounds and Sights strives to create a balance of veteran performers and up-and-coming artists.

This week, the Gazebo stage showcases both an annual crowd favorite, Mo’ Easy, and a new act, Wild Childz.

Wild Childz auditioned for Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights during ‘Live Auditions’  in March. “The judges were impressed by the skills and determination of the young band, and wanted to give them the opportunity to perform,” Said Denise Cugliari, one of the event organizers.

“Providing a venue for developing artists, where they can transform from attendees to performers is paramount and we are proud that many performers get their first break at Sounds & Sights,”  she said.

The diverse music line-up also features regional artists, including Blues/Roots musician Ian Stewart Acoustic performing at the new Palmer Commons Stage on Main Street and Bluegrass quartet, The Waynewood Boys at Katie’s Korner on the Library Lawn.

Ten piece Ska/Reggae group, Hullabaloo, bring their upbeat and fun energy to South Street while Blues Top Blues Band rock out at East Middle Street. Michigan based Alternative Rock band, Feeding Grizzlies, play raw and stripped down Rock & Roll at Sylvan Courtyard.  The Devil Elvis Show perform Elvis tunes in a unique and modern way at the Glazier Building.

There is something for the whole family including The Face Painting Robot at the Clocktower Courtyard Stage as well as the family-run balloon twisting company, 3 Generations Entertainment at the Main Street Alley.

The “Sights” of Sounds and Sights include the “How To Chalk” seminars each week beneath the Clocktower. Everyone is invited to transform the pavement into colorful works of art, this week the focus is Toys. Visitors are also invited to explore the new installation of SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 13 juried sculptures.
