Beach Middle School Cross Country Team Competes in Regional Meet

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Loren Thorburn for the information in this story.)

On Saturday, Oct. 23, the Chelsea Beach Middle School cross country team traveled to Hudson High School to compete at the very first MHSAA Middle School Cross Country Regional Meet.

It was a nice day to compete with the cool temperatures, large competitive field, and a well groomed, traditional cross country course.

In this end of year championship meet, each team could allow a maximum of 20 runners with the top five of each team scoring.

Saline won the Regional with 59 points and Whitmore Lake was second with 77 points.

The Beach Middle School girls team finished 13th out of 17 teams with a total of 166 runners in the race.

Sam Bieber led the group with a 27th placing followed by Lissa Krueger (60th), Aleeah Wells (94th), Audrey Norton (108th), Sorina Kuehn (123rd), and Aero Rexter (134th).

Highlights included Aero lowering her time by two minutes and Aleeah Wells improving her season best time by four seconds. The boys team finished 3rd out of 20 teams with a total of 197 runners in the race.

Bedford placed 1st with 72 points followed by Saline with 76 points and Chelsea with 107 points.

All-Region honors went to Beckett Boos (5th), Linus Helzerman (12th), and Wyeth Angus (16th). Other scores for the team were AJ Smith (35th), Alex Martin (39th), and Jake Brant (44th).

Highlights included Beckett Boos with the 5th fastest middle school cross country time in school history running 11:30.9, Liam Favre going 44 seconds faster than his best time, and Bradley Dunn bettering his PR by 17 seconds.

Congratulations to all 2021 Chelsea runners on improving their times and competing hard.
