Beach Middle School 7 Blue volleyball team took the match winning 2 of 3 sets vs Parkside. Scores were: 25-19 won, 25-17 loss, 25-16 won.
Highlights include Jade Siefert at the serving line with multiple points for her team in set one. Also Paisley Myers had a nice streak of serving points in set three. Aniston Bomay showed up with some strong overhead serving, too. Good net play continues by Grace Jaynes, Ellie Hurst and Addelyn Collins and Amber Yacks had some good passing during the match.
Chelsea 7Blue plays again next Monday at home.
Saturday, 7 gold volleyball players played in a tournament at Jackson Parkside. In pool play, the team soundly won 2 sets against Jackson Orange. The next 2 sets were against Dexter Gold and were very competitive. Both teams had great volleys and both games were exciting and close, but Dexter got the wins.
Chelsea then came out strong against Monroe and the score went back and forth. The Bulldogs had great digs in serve receive and strong serving but again lost by only 2 points. The next set the Bulldogs seemed to run out of steam and took a loss. In bracket play, the team split their 2 sets with Jackson. It was a fun day of volleyball.
Monday night, 7 gold again played Jackson Orange at home. The Bulldogs just couldn’t get serves over in the first set and lost a game they should have won, 23 – 25. The team won the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-18 to take the match.
Highlights on the night include a diving save from Phoenix Massey, tips from Charlotte Ewen, Avery Edwards and Emily Schultz. Leading server for the match was Avery Edwards with 8. Kayden Smith, Kylie Schroeder, and Emily each tallied 5 serves.
The gold team plays Jackson Black at home this Wednesday.
8th grade Gold Volleyball took a solid win against Jackson Orange Monday. In the first set it was all Baylee Kuck. Baylee served up 17 points in a row – 6 of them aces. Fiona Borcherding added 2 more serves, a tip and a kill.
Scarlet Delong finished off the remaining points with her serves to win 25-4. The next two sets were a bit more exciting. The second set again showed a domination in serving with 6 serves by Ansley Ahsltrom, 4 from Sloane Steele and 3 from Makayla McClanahan. Ashlyn Monsma did well at the net. Sloane added a back row kill and strong net play to help secure the win. Highlights in the third included a kill by Lila Keeler, nice setting by Mia Kloos, 6 service points from Scarlet, and 3 each from Ansley and Cora Bollinger. It was an exciting finish and a great team win, 26-24.
