Ben Vogel Memorial Fund 2012-13

During the 2011-12 school year, thanks to an outpouring of financial support from family, friends and community members, the family of the late Ben Vogel (Chelsea High School Class 2001) was able to make a donation, which served as a one-year subsidy for the Beach Middle School athletic participation fee.

Instead of paying $50 to participate in sports, because of the fund, parents of Middle School students were only charged $25.

Now that the Chelsea School Board has eliminated the pay-for-participation fees for students, the funds are available to middle school and high school students to help pay any additional school billed costs for participation in sports and extra-curricular activities, according to information from Sam Vogel.

“Funds contributed in memory of Ben Vogel are to be used to help pay fees, costs, etc. that are the responsibility of the student and/or their parents to pay for extra-curricular activities,” Sam Vogel said in the press release.

Examples of items that can be covered by the fund include “team member spirit packs,” team sweat shirts, and named jerseys.

Any student or parent who needs financial help to pay for the “team/club” extras are encouraged to privately contact the coach or club adviser.

Parents and students that have any questions can contact the Chelsea School’s Athletic Department at 734-433-2244.
