This year’s Bulldog Cards are now being sold by players on all three football teams for $20 each.

Yesterday, I caught up with senior defensive end Grant Ortbring at the stadium and bought two of them.

The cards are a football fundraiser and the proceeds will be used to buy new safety equipment such as new pads and helmets for players on all levels.

Although the sales blitz day for for cards doesn’t take place until Monday, Aug. 18, Chelsea football players are already selling this year’s fundraiser cards, which offer special deals at local restaurants and businesses.

There’s a free dine-in offer for a pizza at Jet’s, a buy one get one free coney dog at the Chelsea Coney Island. Smokehouse 52 has a discount as does The Breakaway, Cottage Inn, Twisters and Chinese Delight to name a few.

Grant-and-Bulldog-cardOrtbring said the team has set a goal of selling 1,500 cards and all players are selling the cards.

On Aug. 18, players will get out of football practice a little early and the underclassmen will walk around town selling the cards while the juniors and seniors will drive to places that aren’t in walking distance.
