Although the sales blitz day for for Bulldog Cards doesn’t take place until Monday, Aug. 19, Chelsea football players are already selling this year’s fundraiser cards, which offer sweet discounts at local merchants and restaurants.

Junior defensive end and punter Grant Ortbring said the team has set a goal of selling 1,500 cards this year.

The 7th and 8th grade players are trying to sell 3 each, while the high school players are trying to sell 20 cards each.

Ortbring, however, has set his goal at 30-40 cards. They are available from any football player, he says, and in several stores downtown.

“This is our big fundraiser of the year,” Ortbring says, and all the proceeds go to the football team.

On Aug. 19 is the official team selling blitz. They will get out of football practice a little early and the underclassmen will walk around town selling the cards while the juniors and seniors will drive to places that aren’t in walking distance.

To recap, last year, the varsity football team lost its first three games, then came back big time, winning six straight to make its 14th consecutive playoff appearance.

The junior varsity finished the season, with a 5-4 record, and the SEC white championship title.

And let’s not forget that the freshman team was undefeated last season.
