The Chelsea Girl’s Track and Field Team competed in the 2013 EMU Huron Relays last weekend and took third place in the Division 2 meet with 39 points, behind Dearborn Divine Child and Algonac.

Grace Sauers finished second place in the long jump with 16’1 ¾” jump. She was also seventh in the 60-meter hurdles.

The 3,200-meter relay turned in a second place finish with a team of Taylor Shrock, Maria Osentoski, Lauren O’Toole, and Sofie Gonzalez.

“The girl’s competed well in this early season indoor event,” said Head Coach Shane Rodriguez, who added, “Many medals were earned, and it was a solid team performance.”

He said he was very pleased with the result especially in light of the weather and completing without a 3-time all-state athlete.

He said the team hopes to improve at the MSU Playmakers True Team invite on Tuesday, March 26.
