The Chelsea Men’s Track Team began its season with a solid start last weekend at the Huron Relays.

“We had a good chunk of guys turn in lifetime bests in the very first meet,” said Men’s Varsity Head  Track Coach Eric Swager.

Travis Weiss began the season with a personal best of 14’6″ in the pole vault, increasing his best vault by 5 inches.

Berkley Edwards’ 60 dash time tied the Division II meet record, and Jacob Stubbs victory in the mile was “an exciting, tight-fought battle,” Swager said.

The Bulldog’s 4×800 relay time is one of the top in the state for this early in the season, Swager said.

“We still need to solidify a few events, get our hurdlers back, and work on getting the main group of sprinters in shape, but overall we are pleased with the outcome,” he said of the second-place finish out of about 25 teams in the Division II meet.

The team heads to the MSU True Team Invite later this week.
