A sweltering Tuesday evening didn’t stop the Chelsea varsity boys soccer team from scoring a pair of goals to best their down-state rivals, Bedford.

Six minutes into the first half, Luke Heumann put a feed from Ryan Hilbert into the corner for the first score of the evening. Midway through the second half, the pair reversed roles and scored the go-ahead goal.

As has been the case throughout the season, Chelsea’s defense played a key role in keeping opponents’ scoring chances to a minimum and ensuring a dominant time of possession.

Senior Keith Hoeflinger controlled the middle of the field for the Bulldogs, and goalie Mike Beneteau protected the net and supplied the offense with several opportunities with his booming goal kicks.
