For the third year in a row, the Chelsea Bulldog Cross County teams were able to take home two championship trophies from the Springport Invitational meet.

In the varsity race, David Trimas won his first overall invitational title, in another lifetime best time.

“As he gains confidence, I believe he can become one of the top runners in the state,” Swager said.

In addition, Adam Bowersox had his lifetime best time, and Joe Vermilye and Jack Abernethy had solid races as well.

All six varsity finishers won medals.

The JV race was highlighted by Matt Proegler’s top finish, also in a PR effort time.  He moved up throughout the race, and dueled hard with the runner-up finisher.

Liam Heaney had the top freshman result, and overall 12 JV runners had lifetime bests.

“We have been emphasizing running even pace and passing people, and a large bunch of the guys did just that today,” Swager said. “As we continue to build strength and gain racing experience, you will see many more best times occur.”
