Bunnies rule at the library Wednesday, more animals expected Saturday

Is that a rabbit I see?

It was a hoppin’ good time at the Chelsea District Library Wednesday morning, Dec. 5 when three special guests with long ears, four paws and soft fur enchanted storytime children and their parents during a session that featured rabbits.

And, build a snowman or two, and, well, all kinds of activity for the wee ones.

Sue Rogers brought a Holland Lop, Californian and Satin rabbit for the children to pet, while members of the Chelsea Go-Getters 4-H Club were on hand to help with a special craft project, read and lead songs.

The helpful 4-Hers were Myranda and April Montoye and Joel and Evelyn Basar.

In addition, 4-Hers will lead another special event on Saturday when members of Roger’s Corners 4-H club bring even more animals to the library.

Edith Burney and 4-Hers act out a song.

It’s billed as a festive family party and a chance to meet a llama in the library.

Parents with kids 12 years and under are invited to visit a petting zoo of farm animals, including rabbits, a chicken, a goat and a llama, and learn how these animals are important parts of Chelsea life.

Enjoying storytime.

There will be a variety of crafting activities, including origami and beaded decorations and snacks will be served.

Families are encouraged to bring a personal hygiene product to the event for the Holiday Hygiene Drive, which is taking place in partnership with the 4-H Clubs of Washtenaw County, Ozone House, and Faith in Action.

The holiday decorative crafts projects will be led by 4-H kids and include origami — including how to make a box, a Christmas tree, a crane, and a top.

Rogers Corners 4-H Club will provide a fun display board for kids to put their heads in for pictures.
