Chelsea Area Festivals and Events (CAFE) awarded four Chelsea High School seniors $500 scholarships at the Class Night on Tuesday, June 9.

The Chelsea Area Festivals and Events Scholarship was established in 2015 to promote the future of fine arts by honoring the achievements of outstanding graduating seniors who intend to pursue a degree in performing or visual arts.

This year, CAFE increased the number of scholarships, awarding two Music Scholarships and two Visual Arts Scholarships.

2020 Scholarship Winners:

  • Chelsea Area Festivals & Events Music Scholarship – Thea Higgins
  • Chelsea Area Festivals & Events Music Scholarship – Rebecca Hall
  • Chelsea Area Festivals & Events Visual Arts Scholarship – Emily Rosolowski
  • Chelsea Area Festivals & Events Visual Arts Scholarship – Sydney St. Amour

“It means so much to me that local organizations believe in me and want to see me succeed. Receiving aid from Chelsea Area Festivals & Events will help me so much while I’m starting the next chapter of my life,” said Rebecca Hall, who is attending Eastern Michigan University next year.

Chelsea Area Festivals and Events is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that coordinates “SculptureWalk Chelsea”, “Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights”, “Sounds and Sights Festival”, and “Hometown Holidays.”

The mission of the organization is to enrich Chelsea, and the surrounding communities, by promoting the presentation of and participation in quality performing and visual arts throughout the year.

“The scholarships are a key component of CAFE’s mission. It recognizes the hard work, commitment, and excellence of students and supports their future endeavors in the arts,” said Craig Common, CAFE president. “We wish the best to the Class of 2020.”
