CCH volunteer Alma Bershas named president of Michigan Association of Healthcare Advocates

Chelsea Community Hospital is pleased to announce that Alma Bershas, a long-time CCH volunteer, was recently appointed as president of the Michigan Association of Healthcare Advocates (MAHA) at the 65th annual meeting held at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.

Bershas began volunteering in 1988 at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms in the emergency room. For the last 14 years, she’s been a volunteer at Chelsea Community Hospital, where she has held numerous positions, including president of the auxiliary.

In addition, she volunteers at the University of Michigan.

The Healthcare Advocates provides services, education, and leadership training to the MAHA membership, in addition to providing support to the Michigan Health and Hospital Association (MHA). This year, 21,682 auxiliaries and volunteers have donated more than 2.2 million hours of service to their respective health care facilities.

In addition, more than $7.788 million was raised to benefit Michigan hospitals.
