Whether you were a guest of honor or representing a local business or part of the community wanting to be part of a festive gathering on a warm May evening, Robin Hills Farm was the place to be May 18 for the annual meeting of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.

“This feels like a return to normal,” said Terris Ahrens, executive director of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce. “We couldn’t do the banquet last year because of Covid, so tonight’s event will include all the 2020 award recipients. This is the most people I’ve seen together in a long time.”

It was an evening filled with kudos for local citizens and businesses. Nancy Graebner, CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital of Chelsea, was honored as the 2020 Citizen of the Year, and Dick Dice was given the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award.

“I just do what I enjoy doing,” said Dice. “People have been so good to me.”

Ugly Dog Distillery, LLC was the 2020 Large Business Leadership Award recipient, and Breathe Yoga, LLC was honored with the 2020 Small Business Leadership Award.

“I was so ‘chuffed’ to win this award on behalf of all the instructors at Breathe Yoga,” said owner Sue Whitmarsh. “I love what we do and the community we built and believe everyone needs a bit of yoga in their life!”

Also honored was Chelsea Area Festivals & Events with the 2020 Nonprofit Business Leadership Award, which Craig Common accepted.

Guests were treated to the beautiful backdrop of Robin Hills Farm’s Pasture Barn and its surroundings, and complimentary appetizers were provided by Chamber members The Arctic Breakaway, Brahma Haus, Chelsea Burger, Cottage Inn, Enzo’s Catering, The Grateful Crow, Jet’s Pizza, Silver Maples, Smokehouse 52 BBQ, Thompson’s Pizza, Ugly Dog Distillery, Valiant Bar & Grill, and Zou Zou’s Cafe.
