Rick De Troyer, an artist from Lyndon Township, who specializes making sculptures from found art objects, is proposing of a large sun dial that would be made from one of a roof trusses to form the dial, he told Chelsea Update in a Facebook message Friday.

“The metal window frames also salvaged from the Federal Screw Building will form a sculpture,” he wrote.

“This large sun dial could cast shadows onto signs explaining the historic events that took place at this site during the past 100 years,” he said.

The hope is to locate it all in a public park offered by Rene Papo of Magellan Properties on the redeveloped site.

  1. This is great news! Magellan Properties made a commitment to create a sculpture park to the public on the FSW site, and Rick is the perfect person to do it!!
