The Chelsea Area Garden Club (CAGC) has cancelled its 22nd annual plant sale, scheduled May 9, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In announcing the cancellation, CAGC President Cathy Gillem said, “We believe it is important for all of us to stay at home and practice physical distancing, to protect our family, friends and community.”

For 21 years, club members have gathered each spring to dig up and pot plants from members’ and friends’ gardens for the sale, a community event that attracts hundreds of customers each year. Sale proceeds are used for horticulture-related community projects and scholarships.

“We appreciate the community’s support and are sorry to disappoint our many loyal customers,” Gillem said.
