Chelsea Area Historical Society to hold community-wide garage sale

Experience the catharsis of cleaning out your house and helping the Chelsea Area Historical Society by participating in the Chelsea Area-wide Garage and Trunk Sale Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Sponsored by the Historical Society, vendors who want to sell things of value are especially in demand, but you don’t need antiques, just items that you’ve had sitting around the house that might be of value to someone else.

You can rent a yard sale sign from the Historical Society to do a sale at your house.

“We make money by renting the yard sale signs and the vehicle or table spots,” explained Cary Church, president of the Chelsea Area Historical Society, referring to parking spaces you can rent near the Farmers Supply and Mack Building to do trunk sales, and table spaces in the clock tower.

“A garage sale is a commanding presence, which showcases our facility and people and tends to stimulate people’s sense of community,” said Church. “It’s an opportunity to buy things affordably while enjoying the ambiance of a small town environment and its history.”

Church says that if you find historical books or artifacts while searching through your house, you can bring those directly to the Chelsea Historical Museum.

A map of all the vendor locations is included with the yard and trunk sale signs.

You can contact the Chelsea Area Historical Society at 734-476-2010 for more information.
