Summer is a wonderful time of year with welcomed and well-earned getaway distractions.

So, it’s not surprising that donations to food pantries usually decline at a time when the need is often at its greatest.

It has been a long-time tradition for Chelsea-area scouts to interrupt the decline and work with the community to fill the pantry shelves of our local emergency services provider, Faith in Action.

Last Saturday, Chelsea area troops and packs combined for their annual summer Scouting for Food event at Polly’s Country Market.

In just over six hours, our community donated 714 items and cash that amounted to nearly $2,000.

Scouts BSA in Chelsea wishes to thank Polly’s Country Market for hosting these food gathering events and all those folks who donated items and kind words of encouragement to the scouts.

If you missed this opportunity to donate, Faith in Action will accept your donations at either of its two locations. There is one in Chelsea and a second in Dexter.
