Chelsea boys track and field competes at ‘Super Bowl’ of track meets

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Eric Swager for the information in this story.)

Chelsea boys track and field coach Eric Swager says the Golden Triangle Invitational is like the Super Bowl of track and field meets and the team loves competing in this event.

“Many of the top performers from across the state appear, and we see some amazing performances,” Swager said, adding, “We were able to have the majority of the team compete in front of a large crowd – a great experience.”

Some outstanding performances/lifetime bests:

Jensen Holm and Foster Thorburn were part of the elite 3200 run. “The fastest 3200 high school race I have ever seen, and both ran lifetime bests in an amazing field,” the coach said.

Carson Rabbitt was 4th in the elite Golden Mile, with a lifetime best (sub 4:20). He now has the top 1600 performance in the state for division two.

Josiah Fitch earned a medal in the shot put with a lifetime best.

Zander Hartsuff, Shaun Happy, and Will Scott all hit regional qualifying times with lifetime best runs.

Colton Trevino won the early heats of the 400.

“Overall, we had a fun, competitive meet,” Swager said, also thanking all the parents who brought food.
