A soggy day Thursday greeted the seven teams attending Chelsea Relays 2019.

The Bulldogs finished third behind Division 1 powerhouses Holt and East Lansing.

“It gave us a chance to run some different lineups and try different combinations throughout the day,” said coach Eric Swager, adding, “And the open 3200 run was a bunch of fun for all ages – sprinters included.”

Chelsea had several medal-winning events, including the champion 4×3200 relay as well as the Kruse Relay and the shot putters.

Individually, the coach wanted to mention just a couple guys:

Josiah Fitch had another lifetime best in the shot put with his 43′ effort

Foster Thorburn ran 2 consecutive life-time best 800 splits

Carson Rabbitt had near life-time best splits in both of his relays.

“Overall, a positive event,” Swager said.

He also wanted to “sincerely thank the administration, coaches, fans, and especially all the volunteers that made Chelsea Relays 2019 another success.”
