Chelsea boys track season begins with EMU Invite

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Eric Swager for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea High School boys track and field team competed in the EMU Kermit Ambrose Invitational Saturday.

Coach Eric Swager said, “We took a smaller crew to the meet this year, but those who attended competed hard and well.”

He said with 40 teams, the scoring really gets spread out and points are hard to come by. Still, Chelsea managed to earn the 3rd place trophy, just 1 point behind the winning squads.

The distance runners “showed the fruit” from a hard winter of running, Swager said.

“We dominated the DMR event, finished a close 2nd in the 4×800, and had 2 placers in the open mile,” he said.

“Our other relays and individual efforts were solid, and freshman Brandon Snyder won our team “athlete of the meet” award,” Swager said.
