The Chelsea City Council unanimously appointed Laura Baker to the city’s planning commission and Mariah Fink as the city’s new attorney at its Jan. 9 City Council meeting.
Baker, an 8-year resident of the city, is a design studio coordinator for Norfolk Homes. She wrote in her application that she would refrain from discussions or votes involving any projects the developer might have underway in Chelsea.
With the retirement of Peter Flintoft, the City Council formally and unanimously approved Mariah Fink of Fink & Fink PLLC as the new city attorney at a rate of $275 per hour plus expenses.
The City Council also unanimously approved the proposal from Revise. of Troy (www.revise.com) to design a new website for the city at a cost of $12,700 plus $2,900 in hosting fees per year. The city allocated $10,000 for the project, so will carry the excess into the next budget cycle that begins July 1.
Elected officials also unanimously approved a proposal from Telesystems to upgrade the council chamber’s audio-visual technology at a cost of about $31,650. The local company, which is located on Jackson Road, has done numerous projects locally including upgrades for many University of Michigan departments, conference rooms at Chelsea Milling Company and the First Congregational UMC Church.
But, there is an expected 6-month backlog on equipment. The project allocation is $25,000, so the remainder will be carried over to the next FY budget.
Also during the business portion of the meeting, the city council approved a power purchase commitment authorization and approved a change to the final site plan for the Glen at Westchester to reduce the number of required tress and shrubs on the site.
