The Community Education and Recreation Collaborative (CERC) task force was officially approved by the Chelsea City Council at its Nov. 12 meeting.
The new task force replaces the Community Center Task Force and includes the appointment of additional community members as well as subcommittees to pursue specific projects. CERC will encourage communication and collaboration with key community stakeholder organizations including the Chelsea School District, the City of Chelsea and Parks and Recreation Commission, and Chelsea Area Friends for Recreation. Also approved was the Energy Service Project Second Amended and Restated Power Purchase Commitment Authorization between the City of Chelsea and the Michigan Public Power Agency (MPPA).
In addition, council approved the Power Purchase Commitment Authorization in the amount of $30,600 for Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) capacity requirements and signed by the city manager. MISO Local Resource Zone 7 is the City of Chelsea’s conduit to purchasing power for resale through the City of Chelsea Electric Company. The purchase is for next summer/fall with a guaranteed rate of $4.25 per kw month.
Also at the Nov. 12 meeting, city council adopted Resolution #2024-29: Assignment of 2024 Delinquent Stormwater Billings onto the 2024 Winter Tax Roll. Before placing a lien on the tax roll, staff must provide multiple notices of non-payment to property owners.
In other action, council approved a contract with UIS (Utilities Instrumentation Services) for $71,615.00 for lift station SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) upgrades.
