Chelsea City Council Approves Several 3-year Contracts

The Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a number of items on its business agenda Sept 20, including a 3-year agreement with the Police Officers Association of Michigan, which represents the full-time officers and dispatchers of the Chelsea Police Department. (For more details see the agenda item at the end of this story.)

Also approved was a 3-year contract with WCA, the city’s current assessing firm, through Sept. 30, 2024, with small increases each year of the contract.

City Council also approved a work session for Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. to begin discussing the results of the police audit report submitted to the city by Bobcat Consulting.

Also approved was a power purchase agreement for the years 2025-28 and a map amendment to the city’s zoning map.

Police Chief Ed Toth told the City Council that the department responded to 246 calls for service. Among them, 26 traffic crashes – a higher than normal number of 13 on Old US-12.  Officers performed 12 traffic stops and issued 4 citations.
