Chelsea City Council approves three proclamations; use of Timbertown for bike race

The Chelsea City Council unanimously approved proclamation requests for Eagle Scout Ethan Pfeiffer, 2019 small business leadership award winner Devil’s Haircut and large business leadership award winner Common Grill at its meeting on Feb. 18.

In attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Pfeiffer earned 21 merit badges and his community service project involved making eight benches for the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club.

Also approved were the dates for budget work sessions that will take place on Monday, May 4 from 6-7 p.m. prior to the City Council meeting and if needed, May 11 also from 6-7 p.m.

In addition, the elected officials also adopted a resolution for a use of public space for a special event. Mike Casey of Aberdeen Bikes, who attended the meeting, and Nicholas Stanko of the Ann Arbor Running Company, requested the use of the pavilion at Timbertown as well as the parking area for a gravel road bike race called the WaterMoo Race.

The request was made for both Friday, Aug. 7 and Saturday, Aug. 8. The race, on Aug, 8, is expected to begin and end at Timbertown and take place throughout Sylvan Township. Riders will leave Timbertown and head out on Sibley Road into the township and return to the city park. (More information can be found below)
