The Chelsea City Council began the process of finding an interim acting city manager during a work session on April 24 following the resignation of Roy Atkinson on April 21.
The discussions were added to a scheduled work session to begin discussing the city’s budget.
The elected officials voted to re-establish a transition team that will include the eventual interim acting city manager, department heads — including those from administration, planning, public works, utilities, and the police chief as well as the mayor and two city council members.
This group will assist the interim acting city manager for about two months until a permanent city manager can be hired.
The council also directed staff to issue a request for proposals to all appropriate venues to post a call for applications for the interim position with applications due on Saturday, April 29.
