Chelsea City Council has light agenda tonight

The Chelsea City Council has a light agenda for its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 12, which includes a presentation about the Chelsea Area Senior Center from Trinh Pifer, the center’s director.

City Council is expected to discuss a request for approval of the annual Chelsea Kids’ Fest at Timbertown sponsored by American 1 Credit Union.  The annual event, which includes interactive learning activities for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, is scheduled for Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

According to a letter from the sponsors, “it’s an interactive expo where kids learn while having fun” and the organizers hope to have more than 20 Chelsea businesses and organizations participate.

“Each business is asked to have an interactive learning activity and to have some type of giveaway for the kids,” according to information about the event.

Certain requests for public use of public space within the city must be approved by the City Council following an ordinance that governs its use, which went into effect on May 8, 2012.

Also on the agenda is a discussion to formally set a work session with elected officials from the neighboring townships Sylvan, Lyndon and Lima from 6-7 p.m. on Feb. 26 prior to the next City Council meeting.

In addition, council approval of a budget work session proposed for April 23 from 6-7 p.m.  is expected to be discussed.

Following the regular meeting, a closed session is planned to discuss a purchase of real estate.
