Chelsea City Council OK’s Chelsea Kids Fest, dates for two work sessions

The Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a request for the annual Chelsea Kids’ Fest at Timbertown sponsored by American 1 Credit Union.

The annual event, which includes interactive learning activities for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, is scheduled for Friday, June 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

City Manager John Hanifan said the bank has a branch in Chelsea, and he’d been told that is was “pretty well attended.”

Hanifan said there had been no issues with the event last year and “it was pretty well attended.”

Kids’ Fest is “an interactive expo where kids learn while having fun” and the organizers hope to have more than 20 Chelsea businesses and organizations participate.

Last year, Hanifan said both the fire and police departments took part.

The City Council also approved a work session with the neighboring townships Sylvan, Lyndon and Lima from 6-7 p.m. on Feb. 26 prior to the next City Council meeting. It’s expected that officials will discuss wastewater issues.

In addition, council approval of a budget work session for April 23 from 6-7 p.m., which will take place before the regular meeting that night.
