The 82nd Annual Chelsea Community Fair is quickly approaching and it includes the 69th year of the Chelsea Community Fair Queen Program.
Any high school student within the Chelsea, Dexter and Grass Lake school districts that are in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade are eligible to participate.
If a week of exciting events and memorable experiences sound like something you would enjoy, please contact any of the superintendents (below) for more information.
More information about the Program is on page 125 in the 2019 Chelsea Community Fair Premium Book. All required paperwork needed to attend is due before Aug. 1.
There will be a meeting on Aug. 2 to go over all the details. The Fair Queen and 1st Runner Up will receive a college scholarship. Awards also included in the program are 3rd Runner Up, Miss Congeniality, and the Talent Award. This year, the Fair Queen program takes place Friday, Aug. 23 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Arena.
In May 1992, specific rules and regulations were set up to assist the Chelsea fair queen committee and the Chelsea Community Fair Board. These rules and regulations will be explained and given to each contestant immediately following the entry deadline.
Each contestant is required to complete a contestant entry form, contestant information form, and judges’ information form. There is also a specific contract for the Chelsea community fair queen that will explain the queen’s duties and the requirements that must be fulfilled to be eligible for the scholarship.
Effective in 2010, only one scholarship will be awarded per participant. If in one year, a contestant wins the runner-up scholarship and in a subsequent year, the same contestant wins the queen title, only the queen scholarship will be awarded upon graduation.
