Competition was steep Friday night among the five contestants vying to be the 2019 Chelsea Community Fair Queen.
Word from folks working at the fair’s various barns and booths was that all five young women – Madison Welshans, Katie Krueger, Emily Trinkle, Becky Hall and Amanda LaRoe – had been working very hard all week.
This is how they finished: Welshans was crowned 2019 Fair Queen; Krueger was first runner up; LaRoe was second runner up; Hall was third runner up.
Krueger won the Talent Award for her dancing, and Trinkle was named Miss Congeniality.
2018 Fair Queen Madison Brodeur was also introduced and presented the crown to Welshans.
Welshans will be a senior at Dexter High School. She has a passion for baking and demonstrated her cake decorating ability during the talent portion of the competition.
When asked during the Public Interview Questions why she chose to enter the contest for Fair Queen, Welshans responded that she has always loved dressing up and feels like she can make a difference in the community.
Welshans, 17, is the daughter of Doug and Robin Welshans and was sponsored by Mancino’s of Saline.
