It was an evening of elegance for the guests of the 2013 Chelsea Community Hospital Holiday Gala. Held at the Polo Fields Golf and Country Club in Ann Arbor on Dec. 14, more than 200 guests enjoyed an exquisite 5-course meal, sampled various wines, listened to old and new favorites played by Equinox, and danced the night away – all for a great cause.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the purchase of a linear accelerator, which will enable the hospital to provide radiation therapy services at the Cancer Center. More than $109,000 was raised and the hard work of the Gala Committee made the evening a beautiful setting for all.
“The cause of this Gala is close to the hearts of so many people who have been touched by cancer,” said Judy Stratman, director of marketing and development at CCH. “The linear accelerator will be a crucial part of our future Cancer Center, and we are grateful to the many caring people who have shown their support for this endeavor.”
The groundbreaking for the Cancer Center is Jan. 16 and completion date is scheduled for December of 2014. The $10-million project is being supported by the Branching Out Capital Campaign, led by co-chairs Howdy and Carole Holmes, and a committee of more than 30 physicians, community members, cancer survivors, and business leaders. The committee has been charged with raising $6 million in support of the Cancer Center.
The evening of the Gala, Nancy Graebner, president and CEO of Chelsea Community Hospital, announced that the campaign is over the $5-million mark and looking ahead to raising the additional funds prior to the opening of the center.
This year’s Gala is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13. If you would like more information, please contact Christy Lange at 734-593-5356.
