Each year, the Chelsea Community Hospital volunteers award five $1,000 scholarships to students pursuing an education in the medical field.

This year’s recipients are:

  • Julianna Ameel – Central Michigan
  • Brandy Alexander – Grand Valley State
  • Nicole Oberholtzer – Grand Valley State
  • Alexander Underwood – Windsor University School of Medicine
  • Angela Zube – Madonna University.

“This year’s students have more than demonstrated the qualities we look for in our student recipients,” said Mary Kalmbach, chairperson of the 2013 scholarship committee, in a press release.

“The auxiliary is very proud they were able to do this for our young people,” she said.

To be considered for these scholarships, the student must be a resident of the Chelsea Community Hospital primary hospital service area, including Chelsea, Dexter, Grass Lake, Gregory, Manchester, Pinckney or Stockbridge or be an employee or volunteer of Chelsea Community Hospital.

The candidate must show social responsibility, citizenship and leadership, and have been accepted into a medical program as these scholarships are not available to recent high school graduates.

Notice of the availability of applications for 2014 scholarships will be posted on the Chelsea Community Hospital website.
