Chelsea Community Kitchen (CCK)is pleased to announce a new series of blog postings titled “In Season.”

Shopping in season allows for the freshest and yummiest produce, not to mention is often the least expensive way to enjoy many fruits and vegetables. Our classes on preserving have always been popular and questions about where to get various items locally are common. This new blog will feature answers to all these questions.

It's cherry season.

Screening “Growing Local”
CCK is also excited to announce that we have just received permission to host the first Michigan screening of the documentary Growing Local which features a former Chelsea resident. Details are being developed, but we wanted to share this great news. Date and details coming soon.  See trailer here.

This documentary is a collaboration between Maine Farmland Trust and Seedlight Pictures. The film points to the vibrancy and the growing pains of the local food movement in Maine, and the uncertain fate of the farmers and farmland that keep it alive. Many of the issues are ones our local farmers also face.

Want to help make this program happen or participate in some way? The Program Planning Committee will meet Aug. 19, 7-8:30 p.m. at 128 Park St. We are also open to collaborations with other groups or sponsorships, so contact us at [email protected] if interested.
