Chelsea District Schools’ music students earn top scores at district festival

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Katy Steklac for the information in this story.)

Beach Middle School and Chelsea High School performance ensembles recently performed at district band, choir and orchestra festivals, and all earned first division ratings from all adjudicators.

One is the highest scores these music students can receive.

All groups performed prepared pieces and also participated in a sight-reading portion, where they had five minutes to prepare a piece of music that they’ve never seen before and then perform it.

All groups received excellent and constructive feedback from the adjudicators.

Beach Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Choir, March 1 at Monroe High School, earned straight 1’s.

Beach Middle School 7th Grade Band, Feb. 28 at Chelsea High School, earned straight 1’s.

Beach Middle School 7th Grade Orchestra, Feb. 28 at Chelsea High School, earned straight 1’s.

Beach Middle School 8th Grade Band, Feb. 28 at Chelsea High School, earned straight 1’s.

Beach Middle School 8th Grade Orchestra, Feb. 28 at Chelsea High School, earned straight 1’s.

Chelsea High School Concert Band, Feb. 28 at Chelsea High School, earned straight 1’s.

Chelsea High School Wind Symphony, Feb. 28 at Chelsea High School, earned straight 1’s.

There were hundreds of students involved in these performances.
