The Chelsea Equestrian Team recently held a fundraiser at the Chelsea McDonald’s where supporters could purchase food from the restaurant and meet the team members.
Head Coach Lucy Heimerdinger said that more than $300 was raised during the Thursday, Feb. 21 event, which will be used to help pay for registration fees, the team’s banquet and guest instructors.
The team is expected to begin team practices at the end of March for their competitions that take place in May.
Those present at the fundraiser and in the photo are: Faith Hedding, Olivia Smyth, Madalyn Allen, Elsa Ford, Jacob Lahti, Grant Allen, Jordan Hirst, Taylor Schrock, Cash Shegan, Weston Barnes and Tony Nichol.
In addition, those interested in joining the Chelsea Junior Equestrian Team, for students in grades 6-8, can sign up on Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Beach Middle School cafeteria during a team meeting.
The team shows on May 18-19 at the Ingham County Fairgrounds in Mason.
This in the eighth year for the junior equestrian team and the team has earned the title of champion all eight years. All skill levels are welcome but you must lease, own or borrow a horse and be able to transport it.
