Chelsea Fairgrounds has dead trees cleared, adds bathroom in pit area

The Chelsea Community Fair Board is making improvements to the fairgrounds property.

Since the close of this year’s 75th annual event in August, a new parking area has been added in the back of the property, and behind it, all the fallen trees and dead rotted wood was removed.

Fair Board President Rick Boham said the fair board hired John Taylor of Chelsea to clear out “the brush and the rotting, dead wood to make it look nicer and more presentable.”

“He took all the garbage wood out,” Boham said.

Plus, a new scale house/bathroom with a shower has been added. He said that way, if people want to do some rustic camping, there’s an area with a bathroom and a shower. Or, if exhibitors want to clean up and take a shower before a long drive home, they can.
