Chelsea Field Hockey athletes recognized for academic excellence

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its High School National Academic Squad this February, recognizing more than 2,415 senior and junior student-athletes from 297 schools.

Three Chelsea Field Hockey players were honored.
The National Academic Squad program honors high school seniors and juniors who have achieved a minimum cumulative, unweighted Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year.

Chelsea Field Hockey’s scholar athletes include seniors and out-going co-captains Payton Doan and Alexandra Chalogianis. Incoming co-captain Molly Latimer, a junior, was also recognized.

Doan and Latimer also earned Scholars of Distinction for a minimum cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.9 out of 4.0 or the equivalent through the first quarter of the 2018-2019.

Chelsea Field Hockey is celebrating 15 years of field hockey in 2019. The team welcomes new athletes and returning athletes to Whip-It Camp, June 17-21. For the first time, camp will be held at the CHS Stadium from 3-6 p.m.

The high school team conditions throughout the summer and begins preseason on Aug. 12 with the first in-season games the week of Aug.19. Team camp is Aug.3-4 at University of Michigan.

Registration for Whip-It Camp and the high school and middle school fall teams opens in April/early May. Updates will be posted on the team’s website at chelseafieldhockey.org.
