Two Chelsea firefighters – Lance Baird and Augustine Syrovy – will play for the “Hoses” team during the annual Pittsfield Township Police and Fire Departments’ charity hockey tournament on April 6 at 6 p.m. at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Last year, the firefighters reigned victorious over the guns of the police department.

This year’s event will support Dreams and Wings and The White Feather Flight.

The flight is all about special needs children and their families from the C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital, according to information about the event.

During this special day, each child and at least one family member and/or friend take a flight in a small airplane around the city of Ann Arbor and its surroundings. While on the ground, they spend time doing crafts and activities along with exploring the fire trucks, trying on gear and seeing all the equipment firefighters carry.

The White Feather Flight is dedicated to the cancer survivor families from the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is a chance for those family members to honor and remember a loved one they have lost by taking a flight and releasing a white feather into the clouds in memory of that loved one.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids, and lots of raffle prizes will be given away.
