(Chelsea Update would like to thank Arly Spink for the information in this story.)
Chelsea First Congregational Church UCC recently reported the big success of its Diaper Bank at 121 East Middle St.
The program is serving more than 20 families in the area with free products including: children’s diapers in sizes from preemie to pull-ups, wipes, baby shampoo and ointment, adult disposable briefs, and feminine hygiene products.
The National Diaper Agency website lists no agency that does this between Ypsilanti and Kalamazoo, and there is great need in many places.
The folks at the church are also happy to accept any donations of cash and diapers.
The hours will be changing effective May 8: Open Mondays 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Saturdays, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Other times to pick up materials can be arranged by calling the church at 734-475-1844 and leaving a message.
There is also a curb-side pick-up box that can be put out if arranged by telephone.
