Chelsea Freshman Football Travels to St. Joseph, Brings home 13-0 shutout win

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Chris Orlandi for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Freshmen Football Team had a long road trip to St. Joseph this week and earned a hard fought 13-0 shutout victory.

The defense played incredibly well, forcing 2 fumbles (recovered by Jacob Payeur and Indy Hurst) and turning away the Bears when they had a first and goal from the 2-yard line. Inside linebackers Richard Montoye and Luke Webster were the leading tacklers

Offensively, the Bulldogs took advantage of one of the St. Joseph turnovers in the 1st quarter and started on a short field.  After some terrific running by Ethan Povlich, Nate Christian put Chelsea in front 7-0 with a QB sneak touchdown run.

With less than 2 minutes in the half, Jack Orlandi completed a pass to Christian who took the ball 70 yards down to the St. Joseph 3. Ethan Povlich scored one play later to make the score 13-0.

The offensive line really dominated the Bears. Guards Carson Freeman and Kyle Jahr stood out.

The attitude of this team has been excellent, coach Chris Orlandi said. Most of us were waking up around 5:30 a.m. to catch a 6:30 bus ride for a 10 a.m. kickoff. There were plenty of excuses that were available for us to play poorly. Instead, these guys stepped up and played their best game. It’s been awesome to watch them improve and grow each week.”
