Chelsea girls swim and dive down Adrian, 113-73

The Chelsea girls swim and dive team traveled to Adrian High School on Thursday night to square off against its SEC White Division foes and came home victorious, with a 113-73 win.

“As we near the conference meet, a little more than three weeks away, we wanted to try some different things for the girls, give different girls some places to shine where they may not normally be, and look for a handful of girls who we still want to figure out their best spots time and place-wise for the conference meet,” said Head Coach Dave Jolly.

The Bulldogs started the meet taking second, third and fourth place in the 200 medley relay. The second-place team of Katie Leissner, Elle Mahalak, Abby Robbins and Olivia Prodin touched in 2:06.29.

Mikayla Koch led the charge in the 200 freestyle, finishing first in 2:17.44. Senior Lily Manahan finished third (2:41.25) and Dakota Drew posted a season best time (2:49.89) and took fifth.

The Bulldogs went one-two in the 200 IM, with Chelsea Paddock posting a first-place finish (2:33.38) and Hannah Harmes was second (2:47.32).

In the 50 freestyle, Robbins earned a second-place finish (27.45), while Kayla Jones placed fourth (29.78), and Leah Burgess touched fifth (32.77).

The Bulldog divers broke up the Maple team, taking second, third and fourth places. Melina Almhiemid placed second (193.15 points), Angelia Daman took third (184.70), and Molly Jacobson was fourth (152.75).

The 100 butterfly saw the Bulldogs make a clean sweep, with Kauri Fields earning first place (1:10.80), Koch second place (1:13.83) and Paddock third place (1:14.14).

Chelsea again earned second, third, and fourth place in the 100 freestyle. Alexis Nelson touched second (57.29), while Leissner earned third (1:01.32) and Ella Girard took fourth (1:05.45).

Bella Turner finished first in the 500 freestyle (5:45.62). Morgan DeYoe posted a second-place finish (6:29.85), while Manahan touched fifth (7:19.50).

The 200 freestyle relay team of Prodin, Koch, Paddock, and Girard managed a second-place finish (1:51.20).

The Bulldogs out-earned the Maples in the 100 backstroke, with Olivia Olk taking first (1:03.68), Harmes third (1:15.28) and Isabella Treglia fifth (1:33.30).

In the 100 breaststroke, Jessica Neff took second place (1:22.14), Mahalak third (1:24.12) and Drew fifth place (1:29.17).

The meet wrapped up with Chelsea sweeping the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Robbins, DeYoe, Girard, and Nelson touched first in 4:00.95.

The Bulldogs will host Ypsilanti on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Beach Middle School before traveling to Pinckney on Oct. 25.

Chelsea is hosting the SEC White Division championship meet on Nov. 2 and 3.
