The Chelsea girls track and field team finished fourth out of 14 teams at the Regional Meet held at Milan High School on Friday, May 17.

Tecumseh won the regional meet with 88 points, while the runner-up was Grosse Ille with  84.5 points. Milan finished third with 69 points and Chelsea followed with 62 points.

“We did our best and placed close to our seeds in most events as we were projected to finish fourth as a team based on the regional seeds,” said coach Loren Thorburn.

The Bulldog girls posted seven personal records (PR) or season-best times at the meet.

“Through the season, the girls worked hard all season to improve and dealt very well with the cooler, wetter conditions that characterized our season. I appreciate their positive attitude, team support they showed each other, and their general flexibility with situations. This is a special group of athletes,” Thorburn said.

On Saturday, June 1, the team will conclude its season by taking six athletes to compete at the D2 State Meet, which will be held at Zeeland East/West High School Stadium.
