Chelsea High School Jazz Ensemble to perform at United Methodist Church

The Chelsea High School Jazz Band will perform at the Chelsea First United Methodist Church on Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The Jazz Band is directed by Director of Bands Rick Catherman, and will play swing, rock, fusion, funk, and be-bop to name
a few.

The ensemble is open to any member of the CHS student body, either by audition or recommendation from the high school band director or middle school band director, and has the opportunity to perform in concerts throughout the school year.

In fact, the jazz band is often invited to perform at a variety of community events.

Sectional rehearsals as well as full band rehearsals take place before school at 7 a.m. – with most full band rehearsals on
Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7-7:50 a.m.

In addition to being exposed to a variety of musical styles,  members also have the opportunity to develop improvisational solo skills.

The the church is located at 128 Park St, The concert is free and the community is invited.
