(Chelsea Update would like to thank Luman Strong for the information and photo in this story.)

The recently held Portrait of a Graduate Luncheon is an event held once each trimester that recognizes and celebrates students at Chelsea High School who are exhibiting components of the school district’s “Portrait of a Graduate” in an excellent fashion.

The Portrait of a Graduate is a template identifying 17 traits of the model graduate from the Chelsea School District. The 17 traits fall under “Academics”, “Social”, and “Emotional” categories to represent the three pillars of student growth and development.

Nominations are made by staff members from each department.  Students are honored during a luncheon attended by teachers and administrators.

Among those honored were: Aiden Powell, Lyla Dabbs, Jacob Stephens, Gavin Ijere, Sonja Schemahorn,
Lily VanHevel, Victor Gutierrez De Pineres, Logan Dever, Amy Budd, Maddox Blackmon-Straub.
