The Chelsea Human Rights Commission discussed a list of goals for 2024 at its Feb. 7 meeting.
Members reviewed ideas for the commission’s 2024 plan. Among the goals are looking at improving the non-discrimination ordinance, communicating with other human rights commissions, and working with local organizations on such events as Juneteenth and Gay Pride Month.
Final changes were made to the complaint procedure draft, which goes back to Chelsea City Attorney Mariah Fink and then needs to be approved by Chelsea City Council.
The HRC elected its 2024 officers: Mary Keaton is chair; Joanne Ladio is Vice Chair; Jacquelyn Bullerman is Secretary.
Also discussed was reserving a table at the April 13 Chelsea Expo. The HRC approved a motion to create a task force to work on its outreach effort at the Expo.
The HRC has an opening for a fifth member and will have applications available at future events including the Expo.
The next HRC meeting will be on Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.
