This will be a busy year for the Chelsea Human Rights Commission, which updated its 2024 Plan and budget at its March 6 meeting.
Activities planned for the year include asking Chelsea Police Chief Kevin Kazyak to visit the HRC once the strategic plan has been released, increasing its presence in social media, creating a logo, and planning a meeting or retreat of related groups in neighboring communities for the purpose of sharing ideas.
Additional goals include participating in community events like the farmers market, Sounds & Sights, and the Spring Expo on April 13 as well as carrying out observances of Juneteenth, Gay Pride Month, Indigenous Peoples Day, Civility Month, And MLK Day.
Chelsea City Manager Marty Colburn attended the HRC’s March 6 meeting and said that there is a request from three Chelsea residents to pursue a discussion with the HRC about some ADA (American with Disabilities Act) items.
The HRC has an opening for a fifth member. The next HRC meeting will be on Wednesday, April 3, at 7 p.m.
