The Chelsea junior varsity boys basketball team improved to 11-1 on the season after a pair of lopsided road wins against Southeastern Conference White Division rivals.
The Bulldogs followed a 78-41 win at Ypsilanti on Friday with a 71-42 win at Tecumseh on Monday. Chelsea has now eclipsed the 70-point mark five times this season.
While Chelsea led comfortably throughout most of its game at Tecumseh, the Bulldogs held a slim, 29-25 advantage at halftime of its game against Ypsilanti.
Things changed dramatically in the third quarter, when the Bulldogs used a dominant 32-6 scoring advantage to increase its lead to 30 points. Buck Allen scored 12 of his 19 points during that eight-minute stretch while Nick Martin added 10 of his game-high 21 points, including a breakaway dunk in the final seconds of the quarter.
Beckett Boos added 15 points and Kevin Scott nine points for Chelsea while Wyatt Matusik and Brody Schwartzentruber contributed six points apiece.
Against Tecumseh, Allen made three 3-pointers in the opening quarter as Chelsea built a quick double-digit lead that it wouldn’t surrender.
Boos led the charge against the Indians, scoring 21 points. Martin added 17 and Allen 16. Matusik scored six points and contributed game-high rebounding and blocked shot totals.
