Chelsea JV girls track earns 11 medals in Jackson JV meet

The Chelsea High School JV girls track and field team competed at the Jackson JV Meet on Wednesday, May 15 with 10 athletes.

The team competed in 12 out of 17 events earning a total of 11 medals and achieving five personal records (PRs).

Morgan Majeske threw 31′ 6″ (a PR) to place first in the shot put.

Ava Woodard placed first in the discus with a throw of 85′ 10″ (a PR).

Alyson Baize ran her fastest 100m hurdle race placing third with a time of 19.36 (a PR).

The 4x200m relay team (comprised of Alyson Baize, Leah Burgess, Aleya Smith, and Lily Maynard) placed second with a time of 2:10.13.

Thea Higgins placed first in the 1600m run with a time of 6:26 and placed first in the 800m run with a time of 2:59.3.

Kate Gaiser placed first in the 400m dash (70.10 – PR) and placed first in the 3200m run (13:54.57).

Lily Maynard placed second in the 400m dash with a time of 71.2 (a PR).

The 4x400m relay team (comprised of Alyson Baize, Aleya Smith, Leah Burgess, and Lily Maynard) placed first with a time of 5:14.12.

“It was a good performance by our JV athletes and a nice way to end the season,” said coach Loren Thorburn.
