(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Recently, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club heard from Supervisor Kelli Smith from St. Louis Center. She is replacing retiring Rick Visel as the advisor to St. Louis Center’s Aktion Club.

The Aktion Club, part of the Kiwanis family of clubs, gives an opportunity for intellectually or developmentally disabled adults to serve others.

Club members are anxious to get back to their pre-Covid projects. Some of their projects include selling baked goods, jewelry, and Christmas cards. Kelli would appreciate suggestions from the community for ways Aktion Club members can meet a need. She can be reached at [email protected] or 517-213-9981.

We are also pleased to announce that Linda Lawther, from the Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club, has been elected to Kiwanis International Trustee at last month’s international convention.

Kiwanis International is led by the International Board of Trustees. Trustees come from around the world and represent Kiwanis clubs, giving them a voice in the operation of the organization. Board members establish and implement the long-range plans for the organization, in addition to counseling leaders in Kiwanis districts and Service Leadership Programs.
